4) Create and Edit a New View

Select a Project
First select a Project. If you do not have any Projects, view the first getting started guide for more information.
Create a View
In the Project Sidebar, click the + button near the top of the sidebar. The Create View modal is displayed where the new View can be configured.
- Select the "type" of View to create:
- Project - display a number of Records, metrics, and graphs across the whole Project
- Collection - display a number of Records from a selected Collection
- Record - display a single Record from a selected Collection
- Select the kind of View to create within the selected type:
- Project
- Dashboard - display charts and metrics generated from data in the Project
- Collection
- List - display Records in a scrollable list, and choose which fields are displayed
- Kanban - display Records in a Kanban board, and choose which field is used to group "cards" in "columns"
- Grid - display Records in a spreadsheet-like grid
- Calendar - display Records in a calendar, based on Date and Time fields
- Record
- Detail - display a single Record and any related Records, and choose the layout of the fields in the page
- For Collection and Record Views only, select the Collection to use as the data source for the new View
- Enter the Name of the new View
- (Optional) Customise the Description, Icon, and Colour of the new View
- Click Create View to create the new View
Edit the View
To edit the settings for a View, either:
- Open the View
- Click the View Settings button at the right-hand end of the View settings bar
or:
- Right click on the View in the Project Sidebar
- Click View Settings in the menu
The View settings modal will open where settings for the View can be edited. Depending on the type of View, different options are available:
The View edit options listed below are not exhaustive, please see the Views documentation for more options
All View types:
- Name
- Description
- Icon
- Colour
List View:
- Edit which Fields are displayed in the View
- Add a Field by clicking the + Add Field button
- Reorder fields by dragging the field with the dragging handle
- Replace a Field by selecting a different field in the Collection using the Field dropdown
- Make a Field editable or not editable by clicking the "pen" icon button
- Remove a Field from the View using the red "trash" icon button
Kanban View:
- Select the Stacking Field which is used to group the Records into columns
- Select where Records which are not assigned to any of the columns are displayed with the "Unassigned" Column dropdown
- Select which Fields are displayed on the "front" of cards
- Add a Field by clicking the + Add Field button
- Reorder fields by dragging the field with the dragging handle
- Replace a Field by selecting a different field in the Collection using the Field dropdown
- Remove a Field from the View using the red "trash" icon button
